“A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles.”
Christopher Reeve
Being a rock in your life takes discipline, focus, and a desire to be the best version of yourself. A rock is someone who makes no apologies for who they are because they are proud of the choices they’ve made and the path they’ve taken. They are unwavering in their vision, steadfast in their leadership and clear in their purpose.
Through weekly articles and videos, we will tackle topics from the relatable and funny to the inspiring and useful.
My mission is to not only entertain, but to equip you with the tools you need to live a life of intention and purpose.
Meet Doug
My name is Doug Schneider. I am a husband to my beautiful wife Stacey, and father of two wonderful boys Boden (10) and Cody (7). I graduated from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg Florida in 2004, and have worked in advertising for the last 20 years. The youngest of 5 siblings and my sons are 2 of 16 grandkids for my parents!
The Inspiration for Be a Rock
When I turned 37, I realized I had lost my way. My life seemed perfect on the surface, but inside I was unhealthy, depressed and in a state of “blah”. I had to make some changes. I wanted to be a better husband, dad, and man. I focused on small daily improvements and gradually transformed my life.
I have noticed a lot of people my age have that same sense of uncertainty in their lives. They are in a rut with their career, they feel stretched too thin with family life, and they are making unhealthy decisions daily.
Some might call this a mid-life crisis, but I like to think of it as inspiration and an opportunity for change. A chance to prove you are better, wiser, stronger than your younger self. A stirring of the giant that is inside you waiting to use everything learned and put it to good use. I started Be a Rock to share my story, and to build a community of like-minded individuals that need some inspiration.
So follow along, and let’s help each other develop the skills to be our best selves.
Thanks for reading.
Doug
